Richard Barth
Director Brass Division Gemstone Musical
Richard holds a Masters degree in Tuba Performance from Northwestern University where he studied with the legendary Arnold Jacobs. While there he also served as tubist in the Chicago Civic Orchestra.
He has worked in instrument sales since 1984 starting with King Musical Instruments.
As a free-lance performer in Cleveland Area Free Lance he performed as extra with the Cleveland Orchestra, New York Metropolitan Opera, Henry Mancini, Stan Kenton and others.
Richard has been a teacher at the University Of Akron, Army Element, Naval School of Music and others.
He is recorded on Crystal Records as tubist with the Metropolitan Brass Quintet.
His compositions and arrangements have been performed by orchestras and brass ensembles around the country. Some of his Tuba-Euphonium ensembles appear on Solo and Ensemble lists. He is composer, arranger, librettist of the Musical ‘How The West Was Once.’
